Mayor of Woodland

By Californian papers to hand we note that that Mr James R Mitchell has been elected Mayor of the City of Woodland by a large majority for a term of four years.

Mayor Mitchell is a native of Kemnay, and is a son of  Mr George Mitchell, Nether Aquithie. He started work at Kemnay Quarries at 12 years of age, and later served his apprenticeship as a granite cutter with the well known firm of Messrs William Edwards and Son, now of Pittodrie Street. Twenty six years ago he went to the United States, and has been 20 years in Woodland. Mr Mitchell has now vast interests of various kinds in Yolo County, of which Woodland is the capital. It may be of interest to note that Woodland is the centre of the great fruit-growing district of California. His many friends in Kemnay and district will be glad to hear of Mr Mitchell’s success.
